The company was founded in Memphis in 1945 by Thomas Irvin. He and his wife Mildred's hard work and dedication were the cornerstones on which our family built this company. It is a fact that has not changed over time, "If your work ethic is good, your company will grow."

By 1948 the need for single-line carrier to service the needs of the American relocating public led to a group of independent movers joining together. That venture laid a solid foundation for what was to become Atlas Van Lines. By joining forces to solve the mutual concerns they pioneered one of the moving industry's largest van lines.
